Yes... I had to do it !
For many strange reasons, I had to convert my main work laptop back to a single boot: Windoze XP. It was once upon a time a triple boot Windoze XP, VISTA and Ubuntu machine. However, having gained nothing from VISTA, I had kept it as a simple dual boot Ubuntu 8.10 and Windoze XP SP3. Anyhow... To remove the dual boot, you will find many articles about this specific procedure, but as you are here, just keep on reading.
In simple words and few lines, here is what you have to do:
- boot your machine from a Windoze XP bootable CD (press enter or any key to boot from CD and check your BIOS boot settings if you do not have this option)
- select the option R (for repair) when prompted
- press 1 to select the default C:\windows installation (or appropriate number if you have more installs or different directories)
- login w/ the administrator password (hoping you noted it down)
- at the prompt, type "fixmbr" and press Enter
- then type "fixboot" and press Enter
- remove the CD-Rom and reboot your machine
- now... all that you have left to do is delete or reformat the (linux or other OS) partitions in order for you to "see" them in Windoze
PS: my recommendation would be to remove Windoze if you don't have any strong dependencies at the workplace ;)
