Prime Big Deal Days is finally here!

While Amazon's flagship Prime Day event falls in July, the company kicks off the holiday shopping season in October. Prime Big Deal Days, better known as October Prime Day, is Amazon's fall shopping event that brings millions of deals. It falls a month before Black Friday, and gives Prime members a head start on holiday shopping.

But just because it's not technically the flagship Prime Day doesn't mean the deals aren't good. In fact, some products are getting bigger discounts than we saw in July.

Mashable's shopping reporters have been covering Amazon's Prime Day since 2018, and October Prime Day is a little different. In July, Amazon extended its flagship members-only sale from two days to four, but its October event is just 48 hours.

If you've shopped Prime Day but are new to Prime Big Deal Days, here's everything you need to know about the sale event — plus all the deals you can shop right now.

What is Prime Big Deal Days?

Prime Big Deal Days is Amazon's annual fall event that began in 2022. It's similar to Amazon's July Prime Day and is open to paid and trial members of Amazon's Prime subscription service.

The 2022 version was called "Prime Early Access Sale," and it was renamed to "Prime Big Deal Days" in 2023. The name has stuck, but colloquially, you'll often hear it referred to as October Prime Day.

Whenever Amazon launches a sale, the entire internet follows suit. Target has already announced its Circle Week will run at the same time, and we expect similar sales from Walmart, Best Buy, and The Home Depot.

When is Prime Big Deal Days 2025?

Prime Big Deal Days runs from Tuesday, Oct. 7 to Wednesday, Oct. 8, bringing deals from major brands like Lego and KitchenAid. Amazon's October Prime Day is only running for two days compared to July's four days.

Last year's Prime Big Deal Days fell at a similar time last year, spanning from Oct. 8-9.

What's on sale during Prime Big Deal Days?

Throughout the event, Amazon will be dropping Today's Big Deals at 12 a.m., 8 a.m., and 1 p.m. PT (3 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4 p.m. ET) from major brands including Away and LG.

Amazon just did its first drop of Today's Big Deals at 11 a.m. ET, which includes major tech savings of over $400. Here are the highlights of Today's Big Deals first drop, plus all the deals across categories from entertainment to tech.

Can you shop on Prime Big Deal Days without being a Prime member?

You have to be a Prime member in order to shop any of Amazon's Prime Day events, including Prime Big Deal Days. But if you don't want to commit to a monthly or annual paid subscription, you can still participate by scheduling a free 30-day trial of Prime around the sale. (If you're a student or between the ages of 18 to 24, that free trial is six months long.) Just remember to cancel your membership as soon as Prime Day is over to avoid getting charged.

Is Prime Big Deal Days a scam?

We've been seeing this question pop up a lot lately, and it surprised us. No, Prime Big Deal Days is not a scam.

While some of Amazon's sales (cough, Big Spring Sale, cough) have been a bit lackluster in recent years, but Amazon's October Prime Day is a legitimate opportunity to save. This event promises to bring major savings on big-name brands like Bose, Beats, Lego, and more. For book-lovers, there will be bestselling titles up to 65% off.

And because we're professional deal hunters, we don't just take Amazon's word for it. We cover deals all year long and use price trackers to check the historical pricing for popular products, and we only include deals in our shopping guides when they represent a genuine price drop. Yes, Amazon does try to pass off "deals" that don't really deserve the name occasionally. However, Prime Day really does include thousands of new and exciting (at least, to us) price drops. In particular, we're seeing incredible savings on wireless earbuds and cheap TVs this year, as just two examples.

Does Prime Day only happen once a year?

Just like how Prime Day is no longer one day, it also happens more than once a year. Amazon's flagship Prime Day takes place in early July, and in 2025, it spans four days.

And for the past three years, Amazon has hosted Prime Big Deal Days, an October event serving as a precursor to its Black Friday festivities. However, the summer iteration of Prime Day is still Amazon's marquee sale.

Will there be another Prime Day before Christmas?

In a word, no. However, it's not your last chance to shop a major sale from Amazon. October Prime Day is Amazon's kickoff sale to the Black Friday season, meaning the next big sale we'll see from the mega-retailer will be its Black Friday sale in November.

As of right now, Prime Day only happens twice a year, in July and October, though this October sale is technically dubbed "Prime Big Deal Days."

They get packed along on every outing, accompany us while traveling, and help lull us to sleep when the neighbors are moving furniture in the middle of the night. Perhaps the only problem with earbuds is that they're small, and that makes them incredibly easy to lose. If your earbuds tend to go missing, replace those lost with this great deal during October Prime Day.

As of Oct. 8, the CMF Buds 2 are on sale for only $24.50 at Amazon, marked down from the normal price of $49. That's a 50% discount, saving you $24.50 on each pair. Since this is an all-time low price, it's worth considering buying a few pairs.

Amazons October Prime Day MacBook deals are way better than they were in July

As Mashable's resident laptop expert, I'm in charge of sniffing out the best deals on Apple MacBooks during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. The 48-hour sale is still live through Wednesday, Oct. 8, and I love what I've been seeing thus far: Lots of M4-era models are cheaper now than they were during Amazon's main Prime Day sale in July.

Most notably, Amazon is offering all-time low prices on the excellent M4 MacBook Airs. The super portable 13-inch model has fallen to $799 (normally $999), which is $50 better than its prior Prime Day deal. If you want more screen space for multitasking, the 15-inch is now just $979 (usually $1,199), or $70 cheaper than in July.

The 15-inch base configuration is actually $20 cheaper today than yesterday: It was $999 during the first half of Prime Big Deal Days on Tuesday. An upgraded variant with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage has also gotten some mid-sale markdowns. After hitting $1,399 earlier (normally $1,599), it fell to $1,369 around 7 a.m. ET on Wednesday and $1,354 a few hours later. Congrats to any last-minute holdouts among us.

None of the M4 MacBook Pros are sitting at their lowest prices ever, but some have matched or surpassed their previous Prime Day deals by up to $69. The three that haven't are M4 Pro models, which are still $200 to $300 off each.

The MacBook Pro I'd be most tempted to buy right now is the base configuration of the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, which is going for $1,330 in space black thanks to an on-page coupon. That's $69 lower than its July Prime Day price and $31 away from its best-ever price of $1,299. I seriously doubt Amazon will revive that before Prime Big Deal Days ends at 11:59 p.m. PT, though it's not impossible given its recent MacBook Air meddling. Maybe wait a couple more hours.

Below, I've outlined the details of all the October Prime Day MacBook deals I'm tracking, including my top picks. (Record lows are marked with a 🔥.) For what it's worth, I'm also keeping a close eye on Best Buy's concurrent Techtober Sale in case it decides to one-up any of Amazon's deals later in the week. It's only price-matching a few at present.

The 13-inch model is my top pick for students, and right now, it's a great option for budget shoppers, too: The 256GB base model has returned to its record-low price of only $799 during Prime Big Deal Days — a $200 savings. If you have some wiggle room in your budget, the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro gets you cooler multitasking performance, better speakers, a better mix of ports (including an HDMI port), and a nicer 120Hz display compared to the MacBook Air. It's a little bit thicker and heavier, but only slightly. Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days discount shaves 17% off the space black base model's list price. Again, don't forget to apply its on-page coupon before heading to checkout.

The 2025 Roombas are the best ones in a long time. Every single one is on sale for October Prime Day.

Roombas are more practically priced now than they have been in years, and I say that when they're at full price. The iRobot landscape looks even better this Prime Big Deal Days season, when just about every single new Roomba from 2025 is on sale — some up to 50% off at Amazon. Coincidentally, my two top Roomba deals have dropped slightly further in price between the first (Oct. 7) and last day (Oct. 8) of Prime Big Deal Days.

October Prime Day is now the second Prime event we've experienced post-iRobot's epiphany in March 2025. For years before that, Roombas were simply way too expensive for their own good. The other top robot vacuums out there were offering the same features, like smart mapping and small obstacle avoidance, at much lower prices. But that all changed when iRobot released a fleet of new Roombas that kept those same core robot vacuum features at more realistic prices.

But of course, we still love to see them get even more budget-friendly during an Amazon sale event. You can squeeze so much more out of a few hundred bucks when Roomba shopping now: Back in the day, the sale price for a mopping Roomba that could self-wash its mopping pads was $999 — now, that advanced kind of mopping Roomba is less than $500. There's even a Roomba with smart mapping on sale for $149.99 that wasn't in our list of Prime Day Roomba deals in July. The old cheap Roombas didn't do much more than bump around aimlessly, and they barely ever dipped below $200. With this intel in mind, feel free to rule out any i Series or Essential Series Roombas — they're not bangs for your buck like the others in this list.

I wasn't sold on the idea of getting a Roomba as your budget-friendly robot vacuum until this year. The older entry-level Roombas, like the Roomba 694 and Essential series, completely skipped smart mapping — a feature that can make or break your robot vacuum experience. But now, several budget Roombas under $200 can remember a map of your home and clean specific rooms or zones on command. I'm highlighting the Roomba 104 Combo here, which is nearly identical to the Roomba Combo 105 that I tested at home. The 104 Combo dropped to a new record-low sale price on the second day of Prime Big Deal Days, rounding out to a full 50% discount.

The Roomba 104 sweeps with 7,000 Pa of suction power, which is actually a quite commendable number compared to the 5,500 Pa seen on many cheap Roborock models. Not only is this a robot vacuum and mop combo, but its smart mapping capabilities help it to recognize carpet and keep it dry when mopping.

Up until the latest round of Roombas that hit the scene in spring 2025, I'd often actively advise against getting a Roomba. They didn't even have smart mapping, whereas the entry-level Shark robot vacuums did — often at a lower price point than the cheap Roombas. But after testing the new base-tier Roomba 105, I can finally give iRobot credit for actually putting effort into a cheap Roomba. The Roomba 104 Combo featured here is nearly identical to the 105, but also mops.

If you’ve had your eye on any DJI gear, the final day of Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days sale (aka October Prime Day) might be the time to finally go for it. With news of a potential U.S. ban on the company's drones looming and a required national security risk assessment due this December, the future availability of DJI products is uncertain.

The company's already having trouble importing its products, and most DJI products are currently listed as "Out of stock" on DJI's own website.

Despite the supply chain disruptions, DJI still has a “second Prime Day” page live on Amazon with a handful of deals on all sorts of gear. A quick heads-up, though: Some popular DJI drone deals are no longer available, but we'll update this guide if we find more discounts. We should also note that because of DJI's supply problems, you have to buy the company's products from third-party sellers. Normally, we don't recommend this, but since Prime members can benefit from free and easy returns, it's actually one of the safest places to buy DJI products in the United States right now.

FAQ: DJI, Imports, and possible U.S. banAre DJI drones going to be banned?

There is currently no DJL drone ban as of October 2025, making the drones still legal to buy and fly, but the company’s U.S. presence is under review. A federal audit due by December 2025 could lead to DJI being added to a “Covered List,” which would block new imports and sales. Current owners wouldn’t lose their drones, but future availability could change quickly.

Why is DJI gear harder to find right now?

DJI is facing customs delays and extra scrutiny under U.S. import laws, which have slowed shipments and restocking. Some newer products also never officially launched here, leaving third-party resellers as the main source. Combined with high demand, that’s made many DJI drones and accessories scarce or overpriced.

What happens if a ban actually goes into effect?

If DJI is restricted, U.S. retailers would have to stop selling its products, and new shipments would be blocked. Existing drones should still work, but official updates, parts, and repairs might no longer be available. You’d still be able to fly, but with fewer long-term support options.

Are non-drone DJI products affected, too?

Review: The new Pixel Watch 4 is a true runners watch, and its gorgeous too

As smartwatches and fitness trackers become more and more popular, a device has to do it all. Beyond telling the time and giving you the weather, we expect them to read our pulse, give us comprehensive fitness data, track our sleep, wake us up, help us relax, play our music, and hold our credit cards, all while looking sleek, being comfortable enough for near-constant wear, and having a solid battery life that doesn't disrupt the data-gathering.

With the debut of the new Pixel Watch 4, Google is attempting to do just that: everything. 

I've been using a 41mm Google Pixel Watch 4 (the smaller of the two options) for two weeks; here are my thoughts so far.

Visually, the watch doesn't look a whole lot different than its predecessor. They're both round and sleek, and, from afar, look pretty much identical. Both watches come in the same sizes of 41mm and 45mm and similar colorways (the new version comes in obsidian, porcelain, lemongrass, and iris while the previous version is available in porcelain, hazel, obsidian, and rose quartz) and have the glass curved cover (more on that later).

But once you actually start using the watch, you'll notice some key differences.

While both watches come in the same sizes, the Pixel Watch 4's screen seems significantly larger. In previous models of the Pixel Watch, the cover glass was curved. Now, the whole display underneath is domed with a new Actua 360 display. It's not super noticeable on some watch faces, but if you modify it to the corsa, field, expedition, or concentric watch faces, you'll see the difference. It's also noticeable if you just scroll through the grid view of your apps, take a photo, or look at your notifications. In general, it gives the smartwatch more depth and makes it feel more spacious and modern. Google says this display delivers 10 percent more screen with 16 percent smaller bezels, and when you're dealing with a screen as small as a watch face, that really matters.

Of course, domed glass also poses a problem — screen protectors. Watch protectors tend to lift annoyingly on any piece of glass with a dome feature. I didn't use a screen protector during my two weeks of testing, and I'm not particularly kind to my wearables. So far, I haven't noticed any scratches, which is a good sign.

The watch also has adaptive brightness on by default, which changes the brightness of your watch depending on if you're in a dark room or outside. I have already fallen victim to transitional lenses, so I typically turn this option off on any device I'm using, but, hey, it works with a relatively quick response time if you're into that kind of thing. The peak brightness hits 3000 nits while the minimum goes all the way down to one nit.

The speaker on the left side of the watch is longer and larger with a custom haptics engine that's 15 percent stronger than the Google Pixel Watch 3. The audio — whether you're asking Google Gemini to set a timer for you or receiving an email notification — is definitely crisper as a result.

As you might expect, there are also a whole host of new watch faces, and the tech is more customizable than ever. Plus, it should be said, the buttons have a slightly better click feel.

One of the coolest aspects of the Google Pixel Watch 4 is its serviceable design, which allows users to take a tiny little screwdriver, open up the watch, and fix what you need to fix including replacing the display and battery, all without breaking your warranty.

Right to repair enthusiasts will definitely be pleased, but this is above my pay grade. I do not know how to DIY service my watch and, honestly, there wasn't anything to fix within the two weeks I used the device. But this is a pretty exciting development for folks who are more hardware-minded — and those who want to get their watch fixed in front of them at a Google Store.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 was the first smartwatch to run Gemini on the watch face, and those efforts have really paid off for Google. Once you set up Gemini, you can say anything from, "Hey Google, start my run," to "Hey Google, pause my run," and "Hey Google, end my workout." I did this a few times on my workouts this week and did find it helpful, although totally unnecessary. You can also click a side button or use the touch screen for that (more on running later).

Gemini pretty much sets you up with the ability to use all of the functions of your watch without actually touching it. No need to navigate to the Fitbit app, just ask Gemini how long you slept last night. No need to navigate to the Spotify app, just ask Gemini to play R&B music on the Spotify app. No need to look for your phone or open the app, just ask Gemini to ring it for you.

When you're sending a text, the Google Pixel Watch 4 uses an on-Watch Small Language Model to recommend personalized replies to texts, too.

My experience with Gemini on this watch? It's useful, but isn't a significant upgrade from previous models (which also have Gemini). Not revolutionary. 

One software update I do love on this watch is the notification cooldown. It's also not brand new for Android users, but it is new to the Pixel Watch, and makes it so that you get fewer notifications without having to fully go on do not disturb — meaning you don't miss phone calls or conversations but you aren't getting blasted with notifications when everyone is texting in your group chat at once.

There are a few things all health tracking devices must do in order to compete: track your workouts, track your recovery, and track your heart. The Google Pixel Watch 4 does all of that.

As the drama unfolds between Garmin and Strava, rest assured you can upload your workouts from the Pixel Watch 4 to Strava or a whole host of other devices, equipment, and apps. It tracks your training and cardio load, measures your body's readiness, and gives you a personalized daily target. The readiness score takes seven nights of sleep to calibrate but the target load requires 14 days of continuous wearing to calibrate — meaning I haven't gotten the chance to explore it just yet. Ask me about that in a few days. Most fitness trackers have some version of this, so there's not a ton to be impressed by here.

I do like the aesthetic and vibe of the morning brief, though, which gives you a readiness score, your sleep info, your workouts, and the weather. The Google Pixel Watch 3 also has the morning brief, and, it goes without saying, I'm a fan.

Pixel Watch 3 users will be familiar with the relax app, the ECG assessment, the irregular heart rhythm notifications, the loss of pulse detection, and fall detection.

It's lightweight and easy to sleep with it on, live with it on, and workout with it on.

I regret to inform you that I'm a marathon runner and, at my core, I want a smartwatch that can do two things: tell me what time it is and track my workouts. The Google Pixel Watch 4 can do a lot more than that, and I was pleased with Fitbit's integration for workouts. Fitbit isn't my favorite of the tracking apps — and I am familiar with them all — but one thing it does do well is give you exactly what you need to know in a concise and easy-to-read format. 

My first takeaway from running with the Google Pixel Watch 4 is that the side button is a lifesaver for a sweaty person trying to start and stop their runs. The buttons are satisfying, never slippery, and frustration-free. I found the buttons to have a lot better feel than the Google Pixel Watch 3, too.

You can build a custom run workout on your phone and use that on your watch or build a custom run workout directly on your watch. This is great for a wide variety of running workouts, from speed training intervals to threshold runs based on your heart rate. Once you get going, you get alerts when your intervals are starting or audio that lets you know your splits. You can also set up goals, including distance or pace for the week.

If you want to take it even a step further, there's advanced form analysis on the app, which is intended to help your running form. You need a bit more data to get started on this than I had available, but I'm excited to see how it works. 

The Google Pixel Watch 4 will also give users AI-powered daily run recommendations based on your recent runs, goals, preferences, and load. I'm currently training for a race (and testing about 10 other fitness trackers for running), so I had to follow my original training plan, but this is also available on the Google Pixel Watch 3.

What is new? Pixel Watch 4 is the first standalone commercial smartwatch to support emergency satellite communications, which is about to make me feel a lot safer on solo hikes once marathon training wraps.

Charging Google Pixel Watches is annoying. Users have complained that the Google Pixel Watch 3 would plug into the charger then lose its connection and stop charging — leaving you with no watch to use at all. The Google Pixel Watch 4 has an upgrade. It charges on its side and I haven't had any trouble keeping it plugged in… yet.

In the two weeks I've used the device, I plug it in while I shower and haven't had any issue with the battery. It charges 25 percent faster than the Google Pixel Watch 3. The Google Pixel Watch 4 has up to 48 hours of battery life on the 41mm or 72 hours on the 45mm in Battery Saver Mode.

Is the Google Pixel Watch 4 worth it?

If you have a Google Pixel phone and no watch? Yes. If you already have the 3? Wait until you need an upgrade. 

Some of my favorite features — the running capabilities and the voice commands — are already available on the Pixel Watch 3. That said, I love the Actua 360 domed display, the snappier buttons, and the DIY repairability.

Amazon's Prime Day has quickly become one of the biggest retail events of the year. So much so that there are two a year. October's Prime Big Deal Days event just kicked off, and the deals are dealing. You can find Prime Day deal stamps across TVs, earbuds, and even high-end fitness trackers, including Apple, Samsung, and Fitbit. So if you need a new watch to track your 5K or monitor your sleep, we've rounded up some of Amazon's best deals on fitness trackers.

It's not our favorite smartwatch fitness tracker around, but we're willing to look past any flaws at this ultra-low price. While the Pixel Watch 3 doesn't have any major hardware additions compared to its predecessor, Google did go all out with improving workout features and making them more personalized with AI advancements. It also has a brighter and better display with better clarity in different lighting conditions. If having the latest and greatest fitness tracker doesn't matter to you, this deal is a diamond in the rough.

Standout features include a six-day battery life, a comfortable and durable design (water resistance!), impressive health tracking and monitoring, and zero subscription fees. Even at full cost, we think it's a worthy purchase for Android users. At only $265.99 — its lowest price on record — it's a steal. That beats its July Prime Day price by $20 for a total savings of $134.

Microsoft pauses Xbox Game Pass Ultimate price hike, but not for everyone

Microsoft's proposed price hikes to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service might not hit you after all.

On Oct 1, Microsoft announced a massive 50 percent price hike to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, two days before increasing prices on Xbox consoles. Fans and users were, well, furious — or, as TechRadar put it, "The outcry was startlingly vociferous."

Now, according to emails sent to some Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the price hike will only affect new purchases in some select countries.

"Recently, you may have heard about changes to the price of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. At this time, these increases will only affect new purchases and will not affect your current subscription for the market in which you reside, as long as you are on an auto-recurring plan," Microsoft wrote in the email. "Should you choose to cancel your plan and repurchase, you will be charged at the new current rate. If, for any reason, there may be changes to your existing account, we will notify you at least 60 days in advance, and you will have the option to cancel or change your subscription plan at that time."

Microsoft confirmed the email to The Verge and said it is "not impacting subscribers in the U.S. or UK."

Kari Perez, the head of Xbox communications, told The Verge in a statement that the company's "recent Game Pass update remains unchanged."

"Current subscribers in certain countries will continue renewing at their existing price for now, in line with local requirements. We’ll provide advance notice before price adjustments take effect in these countries," Perez told The Verge.

This is clearly a change from what Microsoft promised gamers last week, but it's a welcome one. The problem is that plenty of customers turned off auto-billing or canceled their accounts after Microsoft's Oct. 1 announcement — and now they're stuck paying the new price.

"So basically, they just flipped a big old middle finger at anyone who turned off auto-billing or outright cancelled their account. Nice. Right back at ya, MS 🖕," one person wrote on Reddit. Many others responded in confusion.

The overall consensus from people online seems to be clear: This is very confusing and not what gamers want to think about when they log on.

Prime Big Deal Days is live through the end of the day today (Oct. 8), and props to anyone who's waited to buy a laptop until now. A bunch of popular models have gotten cheaper on Amazon since its fall Prime Day sale started yesterday — including the latest M4 MacBook Air.

The sky blue variant of Apple's 15-inch ultraportable was $999 when Prime Big Deal Days began, but now it's only $979 (a total savings of $220). I would've bet good money that it hung out at that higher price all week, but I'm happy to be proven wrong. Best Buy has matched that deal during its competing Techtober Sale in case it sells out on Amazon.

Need more RAM and storage? An upgraded MacBook Air with 24GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD is now $1,354 on Amazon (usually $1,599); it was $1,369 earlier this morning and $1,399 all day Tuesday. Best Buy is also matching that latest price drop.

Over on the Windows side, a couple variants of the Mashable Choice Award-winning Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 have gotten anywhere from $15 to $30 cheaper since the first half of Prime Big Deal Days. The one I'd personally grab is the Snapdragon X Elite variant of the 13.8-inch model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which has fallen from $1,599.99 to $999.99 in sapphire. It's never dipped below $1,000 before, and it's $200 more expensive at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store. (I'll also add that it's only $70 pricier than the same model with half the storage.)

Apple's M4 MacBook Air is a sleek speed demon: In our CPU benchmark, it outperformed 89% of the models in our laptop testing database. It doesn't look all that different from older MacBooks with M-something chips, but its upgraded 12MP Center Stage camera was a welcome upgrade to our reviewer. I think the 15-inch model is the best pick for most people, and right now, Amazon has the 256GB base configuration on sale for just $979 in sky blue (normally $1,199). That's a new record low.
