Best Black Friday Apple deal Apple MacBook Air, 13-inch (M4, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) $749 at Amazon$999 Save $250 Get Deal at Amazon Get Deal at Amazon Why we like it
The 13-inch MacBook Air is down to a record-low price of $749 for Black Friday this year. This is our favorite laptop for students, thanks to its M4 silicon and slim design. This markdown is so good that even if it does happen to drop lower for Cyber Monday (and we're not counting on it), you still score a great deal without waiting for shopping chaos later this week.

The Bose QC Ultra headphones have long been some of our favorite noise-cancelling headphones. Even though Bose recently replaced them with a new Gen 2 model, the originals are still an excellent value for your money — especially at the record low price of $299.

Senior Shopping Reporter Leah Stodart sees Narwal's newest robot vacuum mop combo as a dupe for the $1,599.99 Roborock Saros 10R, our favorite robot vacuum of the year. Its edge cleaning is comparable thanks to dual spinning mopping pads that flex out from under the vacuum to scrub in corners and along walls. When mopping, the Freo Z10 Ultra ensures that it does a thorough job by taking a before-and-after picture of the spill, going back for another pass if necessary. The livestream pet camera is a bonus for homes with pets.

"If you're not sure what size TV to get, we consider 65 inches to be the sweet spot for most folks. While the Hisense U6 Mini LED QLED TV falls into the budget-friendly category, its specs don't scream 'budget' at all. It features a Mini LED backlight system, which means its uses smaller LEDs to deliver a brighter and more detailed picture. Plus, it packs a 144Hz native refresh rate, WiFi 6 connectivity, support for HDR in Dolby Vision, the Fire TV OS, and on-board Alexa. Our friends at PCMag (also owned by Ziff Davis) called it 'easily the brightest and most colorful budget-friendly TV we've tested.'" — Christina Buff, Mashable Contributor

Intel might finally steal this feature from AMD chips
Intel has so far chosen to avoid adding one key feature AMD has been using for years to increase the performance of its chips—a larger L3 cache, which actually results in a tangible performance increase in games. This might finally change soon.
Character.AI debuts choose-your-own-adventure Stories for teens
Character.AI is rolling out a new narrative feature called Stories, a visual, choose-your-own-adventure format that lets users stitch together short interactive tales starring their favorite characters. On paper, it’s a fun, image-driven update, but it’s also Character.AI’s first major attempt to rebuild the experience for teens after shutting down open-ended chats for users under 18 after intense scrutiny, lawsuits, and widespread safety concerns.
Stories, according to the company, are a "structured, visual, multi-path format" meant to give teens a safe way to keep engaging creatively with the platform without the risks that came with freeform chat. The new mode allows users to select two or three characters, choose a genre, write or auto-generate a premise, and then make choices as the story unfolds. It’s replayable, designed for sharing, and built around user-generated worlds. And importantly, Character.AI positions it as a tool "built for all users — especially teens."
This pivot didn’t come out of nowhere. Last month, Mashable reported that Character.AI would "no longer permit under-18 account holders to have open-ended conversations with chatbots," citing the company’s own admission that open chat poses unresolved risks for younger users. CEO Karandeep Anand called the decision "bold," insisting it wasn’t tied to any one scandal, but to broader questions about the use of youth chatbots.
But of course, this followed a wave of lawsuits, including wrongful-death cases and claims from parents who said their children had been sexually groomed or traumatized by explicit bot interactions.
Our reporting earlier this year extensively documented these harms. Teens encountered chatbots that acted out sexualized role-play, simulated assault, and urged them to hide conversations from parents — behavior that one parent described as "like a perfect predator."
SEE ALSO: Character.AI to shut down chats for teensSafety advocates and attorneys told Mashable that if a human adult had initiated the kinds of sexual exchanges found on Character.AI, it would clearly constitute grooming or abuse. Experts warned that young users often don’t realize they’re being manipulated, and that the emotional fallout can mirror trauma from real-world exploitation.
Against that backdrop, Stories could appear to some as Character.AI’s attempt to reengineer the product around its youngest users, especially after limiting their chats to two hours a day and announcing a full shutdown of teen open-ended chat access after Nov. 25.
SEE ALSO: I 'dated' Character.AI's popular boyfriends, and parents should be worriedBy giving teens a guided, genre-driven sandbox filled with branching choices instead of freeform chat, Character.AI is trying to thread an impossible needle: Keep young users invested in the platform while addressing concerns about safety, trust, and its own role in the emotional dependencies some teens developed.
The company promises Stories won’t recycle sensitive or previously undetected content from old chats. In the months ahead, the company has plans for more teen-friendly "AI entertainment" features like gaming.
Safety advocates remain cautious. As one told Mashable back in October, the company’s new safeguards are a "positive sign" but also "an admission that Character AI’s products have been inherently unsafe for young users from the beginning."
Why the Volkswagen Tiguan offers strong value compared to the Toyota RAV4
Crossovers like the Toyota RAV4 have long dominated the market, but there’s one model quietly offering more value than most shoppers realize. The Volkswagen Tiguan often flies under the radar, yet its blend of space, refinement, and pricing makes it a compelling alternative for anyone considering the segment’s best-sellers. For buyers focused on practicality and long-term value, it may deliver more than expected.

One inverter supports 120V and 240V and has a massive 7,200W output, allowing you to run almost any heavy household appliance in an emergency. One battery of 6kWh can be fully recharged in two hours. That's "faster than any other 6kWh solar generator," according to EF EcoFlow.

Go big on Black Friday — the 3 best Black Friday deals on huge 100-inch TVs
Black Friday and huge, discounted TVs go hand-in-hand. It’s a tale as old as time. And by huge, we’re talking whopper-sized smart TVs with all the latest spec and features. In this case, TVs that measure a full 100 inches (or thereabouts). It’s the kind of TV that takes you to another plane of reality, whether you’re immersed in a movie, game, or live sporting event.
There are a number of 100-inch TVs on sale at Amazon for Black Friday. So here’s a quick roundup of the best models and biggest savings.
The best Black Friday TV deal for movies Opens in a new window Credit: Hisense Hisense 100-inch Class QD6 Series $1,299.99 at Amazon$1,999.99 Save $700 Get Deal Why we like it
The Hisense 100-inch Class QD6 Series is perhaps best described as the entry level model in this roundup — if indeed there’s such a thing as an entry level 100-inch TV. It uses QLED screen technology, with support for more eye-popping tech — Dolby Vision, 4K upscaling, AI smooth motion, and a billion shades of color. It also has Gaming Mode Pro, with gaming specific refresh rate of 144Hz, plus a Filmmaker Mode that optimises movies so they’re seen the way the filmmakers intended. It runs on the popular Fire TV operating system and has an Alexa remote for voice assistant control. And it currently has a major discount of $700 for Black Friday.
The best Black Friday TV deal for sport Opens in a new window Credit: Hisense Hisense 100-Inch U7 Mini-LED ULED TV $2,197.99 at Amazon$3,497.99 Save $1,300 Get Deal Why we like it
The Hisense 100-inch U7 Mini-LED ULED is a step up from the above TV, both in terms of spec and Black Friday discount. With a massive saving of $1,300 it represents even more value than the cheaper model. It’s built with ULED screen technology — which is Hisense’s own version of QLED — and has a souped up refresh rate of 165Hz, plus AI-powered image optimizing, Dolby Atmos, and an anti-reflection display for comfortable all-day viewing. It also throws Game Ultra and Filmmaker modes into what is already a monster package.
The best Black Friday TV deal for gaming Opens in a new window Credit: Sony Sony Bravia 5 98-Inch $3,998 at Amazon$4,999.99 Save $1,001.99 Get Deal Why we like it
OK, so the Sony Bravia 5 98-inch is two inches short of the full 100, though you’ll hardly notice when the TVs are this massive. And what it lacks in a couple of inches it makes up for in spec. This is the biggest model from Sony’s flagship Bravia range. Powered by the Google TV operating system and Mini-LED display technology, it’s made for the full home cinema experience, featuring access to the largest selection of IMAX Enhanced movies you'll find via the Sony Pictures Core app. An XR processor uses AI to tweak and optimize every frame. In other words, this TV looks incredible.

Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy get a lot of attention for their annual Black Friday sales, but we're here to put some respect on the Home Depot's name. Just like last year, the Home Depot is giving away free cordless tools with eligible purchases in an epic BOGO promotion. Black Friday: SharkNinja is giving away high-value free gifts just for buying these Shark or Ninja gadgets on sale
Black Friday deals on Shark and Ninja appliances aren't hard to find. Any of the big retailers like Amazon or Target have at least one or two. But there's a major incentive to shop those Black Friday deals directly from the SharkNinja website instead: On top of matching those sale prices, SharkNinja is giving away a ton of free gifts with your purchase of popular gadgets like the Shark Glam, the Ninja Slushi or Ninja Crispi, or a Shark vacuum. Most are Mashable-backed items that we've tested and recommended even at full price.
And these aren't lousy little gifts like a free dustbin bag or free cleaning brush. The free gifts are also high-value Shark or Ninja products themselves, with most ranging in value from $79 to $169. Think free Shark NeverChange air purifier or free Ninja Blast blender — maybe something you were thinking of buying anyway, or maybe the perfect gift for someone on your list.
Here's a quick rundown of the best Ninja and Shark deals with the best free gifts:
Best Shark Black Friday deal with a freebie Opens in a new window Credit: Shark Shark Cordless PowerDetect Clean & Empty System $399.99$549.99 Save $150 Free steam mop ($79 value) Get Deal Why I like it
Though I'd opt for a Dyson with a laser for vacuuming hard floors, this Shark PowerDetect cordless vacuum is the best stick vacuum for pet hair on carpet that I've ever used even compared to the best Dysons. You can feel how tenacious the suction power is as you push it across the floor (or is it pulling you?)
The PowerDetect auto-empties its own dustbin every time you hang it back up to charge. Not only does this get you off the hook from emptying it yourself every day, but it means that every cleaning session starts with a clean slate — so you'll see proof of how much gunk was sucked up specifically from the room at hand.
The Shark Cordless PowerDetect is on sale for $399.99, matching its sale price at Amazon. That's already a phenomenal discount on a self-emptying stick vacuum, but grabbing the deal at SharkNinja directly is the only way you'll get a free $79 steam mop.

Best Walmart Black Friday TV deal Opens in a new window Credit: Hisense Hisense 75-inch H5 QLED 4K Roku TV $378 at Walmart$499 Save $121 Get Deal Why we like it
Walmart officially has the cheapest 75-inch QLED TV of Black Friday so far. The 75-inch Hisense H5 QLED TV bumps the previous winner (the $399.99 75-inch Insignia QF QLED at Amazon) to second place by $20 and some change. If you're a Roku TV person over a Fire TV person anyway, this Hisense is such a no-brainer upgrade. Compared to a regular LED TV, the QLED difference in brightness and color saturation will be palpable the first time you try to watch anything in a sunlit room.

The M1 MacBook Air is the cheapest Apple laptop we recommend. It's quiet, sleek, super portable, and way faster than similarly priced Chromebooks. Walmart almost always has it on sale for $599 (regularly $649), so we were looking for an even deeper Black Friday discount. Our wish was granted: It's now just $549, or 15% off.

Sam Altman describes OpenAI’s planned AI device in vibes
So far, physical AI devices have not been a hit with consumers. The much-talked-about Rabbit R1 didn't receive rave reviews from Mashable when we reviewed it last year, and now it's sort of languishing in tech purgatory. The other highly anticipated device, the Humane Pin, was already killed off in February, just one year after it launched.
Will OpenAI's device have better luck? OpenAI CEO Sam Altman seems to think so, according to what he had to say about it in a new interview.
If you haven't yet heard, OpenAI is currently working on an AI hardware product with Apple's former chief designer Jony Ive. So far, what is known about OpenAI's device is that it's a small screenless AI companion, which already sounds much like the other physical AI devices that came before it. The last we heard about OpenAI's AI device was that it was facing delays due to technical difficulties with both the software and hardware for the product.
OpenAI's 'vibes'-based AI deviceOver the weekend, Altman spoke more about OpenAI's AI device in an interview at Emerson Collective’s 9th annual Demo Day in San Francisco with Laurene Powell Jobs. While Altman didn't give too many more details about the device in terms of specifics, he did explain the "vibe" that OpenAI is going for with the product.
"I think the iPhone is like thus far, the crowning achievement of consumer products. It's an amazing thing," Altman said before launching into a criticism of the iPhone to Steve Jobs' widow. "But one of the things that has gone wrong is when I use current devices or most applications, I feel like I am walking through Times Square in New York and constantly just dealing with all the little indignities along the way: flashing lights in my face, tension going here, people bumping into me."
Altman explained that flashing notifications from all the various apps and social media platforms are an "unsettling thing." OpenAI is going for a much different vibe with their AI device.
According to Altman, the ChatGPT creator is aiming to bring a vibe of "sitting in the most beautiful cabin by a lake and in the mountains and sort of just enjoying the peace and calm" to its AI device.
"I think this actually just isn’t possible in the pre-AI world of technology," Altman said. "I think this isn’t possible with the current kinds of devices that we have."
Altman goes on to describe a device that makes users' lives "peaceful and calm and just letting us focus on other stuff." Altman envisions a device with "really smart AI that you trust to do things for you over longs periods of time" and that would "be contextually aware of when it should…present information to you or ask for your input or not."
"You trust it over time," Altman said. "And it does have just this incredible contextual awareness of your whole life."
Ive, who was also being interviewed alongside Altman, also went on to share that he believed the product would be out in less than two years.
"I hope when people see it, they say 'that’s it?' It's like so simple," Altman said. "But then it just does. As we were talking about, AI can do so much."
OpenAI's AI device sounds a lot like what the AI devices that came before it hoped to do. It looks like we may soon see if OpenAI is the first to actually pull it off.
Disclosure: Ziff Davis, Mashable’s parent company, in April filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging it infringed Ziff Davis copyrights in training and operating its AI systems.
The Volkswagen that out-luxes a Mercedes—without being an Audi
When you think of German luxury cars, names like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi probably come to mind first. But there’s a Volkswagen that quietly delivers all the luxury, style, and performance you’d expect—without the sky-high price tag.
Home Depot’s Milwaukee Black Friday doorbuster is a steal
It's that time of the year again. Not only is Black Friday and holiday shopping right around the corner, but the cold winter months are nearly here, which means more time in a warm garage working on DIY projects. If you're looking for some new power tools and battery packs, Home Depot just revealed some of its doorbuster deals, and one particular Milwaukee option caught my attention.
PayPal wants you to do holiday shopping through an AI chatbot
AI has matured a lot, and it wouldn't be right not to recognize it. But it also makes the occasional mistake. And when it comes to money, you probably don't want mistakes. So maybe steer clear of Perplexity this Black Friday season.
Score Apple TV+ for over 50% off for Black Friday at Amazon
SAVE $42: Through Dec. 1, new and returning subscribers can score Apple TV+ for just $5.99 per month for six months through Apple TV+ directly or as a Prime Video add-on. Usually $12.99 per month, that comes out to $42 total in savings.

Through Dec. 1, new and returning subscribers can score Apple TV+ for only $5.99 per month for six months through directly at Apple TV+ or in the form of a Prime Video add-on. For the latter, you'll have to be a Prime member or Prime Video subscriber to take advantage of the deal.
Just like basically every other streaming service, Apple TV+ raised its subscription cost in 2025 from $9.99 to $12.99 per month. Unlike most other streamers, however, Apple TV+ only offers a single ad-free subscription tier. That alone makes this Black Friday deal even sweeter.
We didn't see any major deals on Apple TV+ last Black Friday, but we did spot a Prime Day offer on the Prime Video add-on, which knocked the cost down to $4.99 per month. But that deal was only valid for two months. There have also been discounts from time to time for up to three months. This is the first time, however, that we can remember seeing a six-month-long discounted subscription.
Apple TV+ is flooded with excellent content, showcasing a virtually all-original lineup. You'll get to watch Emmy winners like The Studio, Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show, and Oscar-winners and nominees like CODA and Killers of the Flower Moon, all ad-free for just $5.99 per month. In other words, you'll get more than your money's worth. Just remember: If you don't want to pay the full $12.99 per month, cancel before the six-month promotional period is up.

Of the million Lego sets on sale for Black Friday, we found the 25 best deals: Star Wars, Botanicals, more
Black Friday wouldn't be Black Friday without deals on toys, and Legos on sale are an absolutely crucial building block of Black Friday toy deals. 2025 has already seen such a strong wave of Black Friday Lego deals, and you might break a sweat trying to keep tabs on which retailers have which set — unless you're reading Mashable's daily curated list of the best Lego deals from across the internet.
Lego sets we've seen on sale so far include coveted Lego Star Wars (including sets retiring soon), Minecraft, Wicked, and more, almost all at record-low pricing. If the fleeting early Lego deals that dropped last week are any indication, popular Lego deals don't stick around for long. If one catches your eye, grab it while it's still available.

The adorable Grogu with Hover Pram set is expectedly sold out after an incredible 50% discount. But that was hardly Amazon's only good Lego Star Wars deal. It's not nearly as massive as the $849.99 Millenium Falcon you can buy, but this sick Millennium Falcon midi scale set is still unquestionably display worthy. It's a special edition that celebrates the 25th anniversary of "A New Hope," exhibited by a special plaque that sits on the display stand.

Super detailed Lego sets are some of the most fun. The fan favorite Trotting Lantern set looks like true decor when it's built and lit up with the Lego light brick, and can be customized with two alternative silhouette windows. Open it up to see three separate rooms inside, including a shadow theater and traditional new year food stalls.
Lego's official Black Friday sale starts on Black Friday itself (Nov. 28). We're anticipating deals on some mega popular sets (like Star Wars ships that rarely see discounts). Plus, spending at least $65 will unlock a free Lego set that can't be purchased separately: Spend $65 to get the Lego Card Game Set, spend $170 to get the Lego Hot Chocolate Stand, or spend $250 to get the Lego Mini Knight's Castle. Make sure you're a Lego Insiders member (it's free!) to get access to any exclusive promos and redeemable loyalty points.
Note: We previously named the Lego Star Wars: Desert Skiff and Sarlacc Pit set our favorite Lego website deal. It sold out there, but Macy's still has it in stock at the same $63.99 sale price.

Spotify might be raising its prices just after Wrapped
Well, it looks like your Spotify subscription is about to get even more expensive.
According to a new report from the Financial Times, Spotify is planning to increase subscription prices in the new year. The report states that analysts from JPMorgan estimate that Spotify users will face a $1-per-month price increase, bringing subscriptions up to $12.99 per month, about $3 more per month than when Spotify first launched 14 years ago.
While this will mark its first price hike in the U.S. since July 2024, TechCrunch reported, the streaming service has increased prices in other countries including the UK, Switzerland, and Australia.
All the while, conversations about Spotify Wrapped feel remarkably quiet in comparison to previous years, when the end of November was full of posts that read, "WHEN IS WRAPPED GOING TO DROP I NEED IT NOW?!?!?!?!?!?"
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed. This is an interesting time for Spotify, to say the least.
Users have been leaving in droves, if you believe the sentiment of posters on X and Reddit, who say they're ditching the app for a variety of reasons from AI slop music to Spotify allowing ads for ICE recruitment. Musicians, too, are taking their music off of the platform, including Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Hotline TNT, The Mynabirds, WU LYF, Kadhja Bonet, Young Widows, and more.
Just a few weeks ago, Spotify's CEO Daniel Ek announced he plans to step down to become the executive chairman.
Everything coming to HBO Max in December 2025
HBO Max is heating up December by way of all the new titles they’re adding—some of the most exciting of which are the arrivals of all seven seasons of one of television’s most renowned shows, Mad Men, and the 80s cult classic film The Goonies.
