As of Aug. 7, you can pick up the Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro, 128GB, WiFi) for just $399 at Amazon and Best Buy. That's $100 or 20% off its list price, and just $20 shy of its record-low Prime Day price.
SEE ALSO: Shop Apple's most affordable iPad for its lowest price yetDespite its small build, the iPad mini packs a lot of power, thanks to the A17 Pro chip, a boost in RAM, Apple Intelligence compatibility, and a starting storage of 128GB. Mashable's reviewer Stan Schroeder writes, "If you're new to the iPad, and you want the most compact one around (or any compact tablet), the new iPad mini 7 is the best choice."
While the iPad mini has dropped to $399 a few times in the past, this is the first time we've seen the price drop since Prime Day. If you're in the market for a new tablet and have had the smallest iPad on your radar, now's a great time to grab it.

There's a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold phone in town and according to Mashable's Alex Perry, it's the "best Samsung foldable yet." And if you grab one at Amazon instead of Samsung, you'll get some free money.
Through Aug. 10, Amazon is giving away free $200 gift cards when you order an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 with 256GB or 512GB. That's essentially a $2,199.99 value for $1,999.99 or a $2,319.99 value for $2,119.99. Yes, that's a steep price for a phone, but the free money takes the edge off a little bit.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a major leap forward in design. It shaved off nearly a third of the predecessor's thickness, so it's just 8.9mm thick. It also weighs just 215 grams (less than the iPhone 16 Pro). That's pretty wild considering the phone folds in half. Inside, it packs a gorgeous eight-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen, five cameras, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a 4,400 mAh battery pack.
Mashable's reviewer writes that the latest Z Fold phone "is my favorite yet thanks to its gorgeous form factor, great displays, and solid camera array." It's certainly a premium buy starting at $1,999.99, but with a free $200 gift card, it's pretty tempting.
The Paper trailer: The Office spinoff follows a struggling newspaper
Since The Office followed the employees of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, it makes perfect sense that the show's first-ever spinoff is titled The Paper.
However, the title doesn't refer to the material Dunder Mifflin employees sold for nine seasons of The Office. Instead, it refers to a particular newspaper: The Toledo Truthteller, headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, which is the latest documentary subject for the crew that followed the Dunder Mifflin employees.
SEE ALSO: 'The Office' spinoff: Everything you need to know about 'The Paper'Formerly a historic local paper, The Toledo Truthteller is dying. The show's first trailer reveals that managing editor Esmeralda (Sabrina Impacciatore, The White Lotus) is stuck writing ad-ridden clickbait articles like, "You Won't Believe How Much Ben Affleck Tipped His Limo Driver." Hey, at least she's proud of it!
In order to turn The Toledo Truthteller around, the paper's chipper new editor in chief Ned (Domhnall Gleeson, Ex Machina) recruits a crew of volunteer reporters. Do they have journalism experience? No! But do they have the heart and gumption needed to dig into Toledo's most pressing stories? Maybe!
The Paper is co-created by Greg Daniels, who led the American adaptation of The Office, and Michael Koman (Nathan for You). From the show's first trailer, The Office influence is already evident, from awkward team meetings to Ned casting a Jim-like side eye into the camera. And maybe I'm reading too much into things already, but a humorous moment between Ned and another Toledo Truthteller staffer (Chelsea Frei) definitely gives Jim and Pam vibes, right?
Of course, The Office comparisons don't stop there, because The Paper features a returning Dunder Mifflin player. None other than Oscar Martinez (Oscar Nuñez) is back! And from the looks of the trailer, he is not excited to have another documentary crew following him around. Free him from these cameras!
The Paper also stars Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key.
Are foldable phones worth buying in 2025? As a tech editor, I say heck yes.
Samsung just released a new generation of foldable Galaxy phones. Next up is the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. After that, all eyes are on Apple.
Are foldable phones worth it? As Mashable's Tech Editor, I get this question fairly often, especially if I'm packing a foldable IRL. And while you could buy impressive foldable smartphones in years past, I think 2025 is the year they've finally achieved true pocketworthy status. So, even if you're not typically an early adopter, I'd still consider making the leap.
So, what sets the current generation of foldables apart? For starters, phone makers have solved their hinge problems. (Even if you fold it 200,000 times in a row.) These phones are also getting much thinner and more attractive, with smaller bezels and better displays. Personally, I prefer the flip phone-style foldables like the Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. Not only are they more affordable than their tablet-sized siblings, but they also easily fit into your pocket. I hate how difficult it is to extract my iPhone 15 Pro from my pocket, but my Motorola Razr Ultra slips in and out without issue.
We've seen three big foldable phone releases so far in 2025, and based on our testing, they're all worth the investment. Let me break down your options:
The crowdpleaser: Samsung Z Flip 7 These phones don't just look cool. Credit: Joe Maldonado / MashableThe new "AI flip phone" from Samsung has already proven popular among trendsetters on TikTok — Android-inclined trendsetters, at least. Everyone seems to be buying the "Blue Shadow" colorway, though we do miss the mint green coloring of the Z Flip 6. (Samsung, if you're listening, bring back Mint!) The Z Flip 7 has a cover display that goes right up to the edge of the phone, and both the internal and external AMOLED displays look gorgeous. In our Galaxy Z Flip 7 review, we praised this smartphone for being almost too much fun.
You can buy this Samsung flip phone on Amazon and get a bonus $200 gift card with your purchase. It's also available at Samsung and other retailers starting at $1,099.99. If that seems too pricey, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE starts at $899.99.

The Motorola Razr Ultra, the brand's flagship foldable phone, really surprised me during testing. I had heard about the problems with previous generations of this flip phone, but Motorola has worked out the kinks and made a damn fine foldable. This flagship actually beats the Z Flip 7 in a few key categories: It has absolutely insane battery life (over 24 hours in my testing), starts with 512GB of storage, and it comes with a Snapdragon processor, whereas the Z Flip 7 has Samsung's Exynos processor. The displays are also phenomenal, and I personally prefer the color options to Samsung's this year. If you want the handsome faux wood version (the "Mountain Trail" color), shop at Motorola.
Yes, it's expensive (especially considering the camera array), but this phone will be a conversation starter everywhere you go.
Opens in a new window Credit: Motorola Motorla Razr Ultra, 512GB, Unlocked $1,299.99 at AmazonShop Now The elite: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 The new Galaxy Z Fold is incredibly thin. Credit: Joe Maldonado / Mashable
The Z Fold 7 isn't for the casual phone owner. If you love to geek out about specs and want the true top-of-the-line foldable, nothing else comes close to matching the newly released Galaxy Z Fold 7. As our reviewer Alex Perry said, "Samsung's latest Z Fold phone is my favorite yet thanks to its gorgeous form factor, great displays, and solid camera array." Samsung somehow made the newest version of the Z Fold significantly thinner, and it feels fantastic in the hand. Its AMOLED displays also impressed us, as did its camera array and Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.
Yes, you'll have to fork over $2,000, but if you want elite performance, you have to pay for it. Unfolded, this has the largest phone display ever made, opening up entirely new ways to use your smartphone. For reading, streaming, and gaming, there's nothing else like it in the smartphone space.

As of May 12, 2025, he is the only confirmed returning Dunder Mifflin character. It's fitting that at least one person who worked at a paper company winds up in a show called The Paper, right?
Who else stars in The Paper?Domhnall Gleeson (About Time, Ex Machina) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) both star in The Paper. Gleeson plays Ned, the publisher who turns to volunteer reporters, and Impacciatore plays managing editor Esmeralda.

Sonos prices will rise this year thanks to tariffs
President Donald Trump's tariff policies are putting Sonos in a bind.
Simply put, the tariffs will result in higher prices on Sonos products in the U.S., as confirmed by company CEO Tom Conrad in a Bloomberg report. Conrad didn't go into granular detail about which products will see price hikes and by how much, but it's clear that this is going to happen, one way or another, unless Trump reverses course on his tariff policies.
SEE ALSO: Sonos Roam speakers are overheating and melting their charging ports"We continue to work closely with our contract manufacturers and our Channel Partners to share tariff costs, though it has become clear that we’ll need to raise prices on certain products later this year," Conrad said.
Sonos does most of its manufacturing in Vietnam and Malaysia, both of which will be subject to higher tariffs soon. Trump's tariffs have wreaked havoc on the practice of pricing tech products since he announced them back in April. Examples include Nintendo and Microsoft in the gaming space, both of whom have raised prices on consoles and accessories that are several years old and, under normal conditions, would potentially get price drops instead.
Anyway, if you want a Sonos product, maybe now is the time to get it.
Amazon has the DJI Mini 4K drone bundle in stock ahead of the potential ban
IN STOCK ALERT: The DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo is in stock at Amazon for $449.

Will DJI drones get banned soon? The news is buzzing about a potential DJI drone ban in the U.S. on account of trade issues between China and America. While that's not great news for content creators or drone enthusiasts, no ban has occurred yet. If the potential ban actually happens, it won't go into play until Dec. 23.
Regardless, consumer concern has led to a major uptick in sales, and it's been a front-row seat on the struggle bus to find DJI drones in stock. Even DJI's own website has plenty of models listed as out of stock.
If you've been searching for the DJI Mini 4K drone, Amazon is your savior today. The DJI Mini 4K Fly More Bundle is in stock at Amazon for its list price of $449, and it comes with free shipping for Prime members. This bundle is currently out of stock at DJI, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, so Amazon is your best bet to snag the drone before we see a potential ban.
Credit: Andrew Kravchenko/Global Images Ukraine via Getty ImagesThe DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo is a power-house for getting you off the ground. It comes with the super portable DJI Mini 4K in addition to three batteries, a shoulder bag, charging hub, spare propellers, and plenty of other accessories.
The DJI Mini 4K truly shines in earning its name as "mini." It weighs under 249 grams, which works out to about 0.5 pounds. With the three batteries, you're in store for up to 93 minutes of flying time. The DJI Mini 4K also comes with plenty of beginner-friendly features, so this is a great model to grab as your first drone.
Despite rumors of an impending DJI drone ban, the brand has been coming in hot in 2025. We just got the DJI Power 2000 portable power station, and we might be seeing a DJI robot vacuum in the near future. Plus, if you tune into TikTok or YouTube, your favorite creators are likely sporting DJI Mics. Those have also seen serious stock issues this summer.
If you're planning to grab the DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo while it's in stock at Amazon, note that it's sold by a third-party seller, AeroTech Hubs. During normal times, Mashable discourages buying from third-party sellers at Amazon, but times are weird. AeroTech Hubs has a 98 percent positive rating within the last year from 250 ratings, so the odds are in your favor that it'll be a smooth buying experience.
Before stock vanishes again, snag the user-friendly DJI Mini 4K Fly More Combo from Amazon. Since we have no idea what'll happen to DJI drone sales in the U.S. come December, ensure you have a super portable model before then.

DJI is one of the biggest names in drones, with a strong reputation for creating incredible aerial shots. The DJI product range is the top choice of TikTokers, YouTubers, and filmmakers. That being said, we were surprised to see the DJI Mini 4K drone so near the top of the charts of best-sellers over Prime Day. We knew these drones were popular, but surely not as popular as AirPods?
Then the real reason hit us like a drone to the head.
President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders aimed at helping the U.S. drone industry and shoring up protections against malicious drone activity. The measures don't actually order a full ban on Chinese-made drones (yet), but talk of a ban on DJI drones has been doing the rounds for a while now. That uncertainty is clearly causing an uptick in sales.
SEE ALSO: The DJI Power 2000 portable power station means business, and it’s great for DJI drone ownersThere were warnings for "low stock" in the early hours of Aug. 7. We thought that was going to be the end of it, but we've been given a second chance to buy. You can still find the DJI Mini 4K drone on Amazon, listed for $299 right now. It's being sold by third-party retailers like AeroTech Hubs and thinkzone. We don't generally recommend third-party sellers, but both have decent reviews and times are tough right now.
The DJI Mini 4K is full of helpful features for beginners and advanced users alike. It has one-tap takeoff options and a return to home function. But perhaps most importantly for content creators is the three-axis gimbal and 4K quality, as well as advanced wind resistance and extended battery life. It's a step up from the DJI Neo Mini 4K that we think creators will appreciate.

Affected by United Airlines delays? Your best bet is X.
United Airlines passengers have experienced delays after a "technology issue" saw flights grounded for several hours on Wednesday.
The issue, which began at 5:12 p.m. CT / 6:12 p.m. ET / 3:12 p.m. PT, saw flights stopped in San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, Newark, and Houston, according to Reuters which cited the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's website. As the news outlet reported, flight tracker FlightAware calculated that over 1,000 United flights were delayed on Wednesday.
Passengers have reported lengthy waits sitting on the runway, baggage claim delays, and flight availability pushed days ahead. United's X team has been responding to many of these social media posts to explore options.
"We are working with customers to get them to their destinations after a technology disruption on Wednesday evening," United told Mashable in a press statement. "The underlying technology issue has been resolved, and, while we expect residual delays, our team is working to restore our normal operations."

The Federal Aviation Administration posted on X around 10 p.m. ET that it was working with United to solve the issue.
"We're aware United experienced a technology issue disrupting their operations. Some delays may continue as they work through the recovery process," the FAA's post reads. "We’ve offered full support to help address their flight backlog and remain in close contact with United."

How to turn your Instagram location on or off
Instagram's new Map feature lets you share your location with friends in real-time, but the addition has prompted concerns over privacy and safety.
Added on Wednesday for U.S. users, the Snap Maps-like tool allows you to see nearby friends on a Map, accessible through the Messages tab. You can also see posts tied to specific locations by friends or creators you follow, if they have opted in for location sharing (which is, importantly, off by default).
SEE ALSO: Instagram's new Map feature lets you track friends in real-timeThere's always another side to location sharing tools beyond the fun and practicality of it all. Location sharing can give third-party advertisers a solid picture of the places you visit and how often. But location sharing can also be co-opted by creeps and even used in cases of domestic digital abuse.
Instagram has taken measures to curb this. As Mashable's Digital Culture Editor Crystal Bell writes, "While location sharing has become a common tool for keeping track of loved ones, planning in-person events, or seeing what your ex is up to (which we don't recommend), Instagram's new feature offers robust controls and flexible privacy settings."
But how does all this work? Let's break it all down.
How does location sharing work on Instagram?Long before the Maps feature rolled out, Instagram added location sharing in Nov. 2024, specifically for DMs.
According to Meta, location sharing is off by default on Instagram unless you turn it on yourself — which might come as a relief to many. The company stipulates that if you do switch location sharing on "your location is updated whenever you open the app or return to the app if it’s been running in the background."

You can only share your location with accounts that you follow, and you can also single out specific people not to share your location with.
If you share your location, according to Instagram, it will update every time you open the app and will disappear after 24 hours if you haven't opened it.
How does location sharing work with Instagram Maps?If you've shared your location with someone, they can view it on Maps, through posts you've tagged, and within chats. You can also see where others are who have location sharing on (you can swipe up to see a list of everyone who is sharing their location with you). You can tap on a person's icon on the Map to DM them.
You'll find Maps in your DMs. Credit: InstagramEven if you have location sharing off, you can still look at the Map and see anyone who has their location shared with you.
In the Map, there are various shapes that will indicate your settings, according to Instagram:
A blue arrow: You're sharing your location with your selected audience.
A red dot: You're not sharing your location.
An orange triangle: You need to enable location permissions on your device to share your location.
Of course, you can turn off location sharing at any time if you've turned it on. Here's how.

Step 2: Tap the arrow icon in the top right to open Messages.
Step 3: Tap the Map feature at the top of your inbox.
Step 4: Tap the cog icon in the top right to open Settings.
Step 5: Choose your location sharing preferences.
Here, you can customise who you want to share your location with, whether friends or followers you follow back, Close Friends, selected friends, or no one. You can only share your location with accounts that you follow, and you can also single out specific people not to share your location with.
Step 6: Tap "Update."
As for teens on Instagram, Meta says parents can decide whether their child has access to location sharing and can see who they're sharing it with. Parents will also get a notification if their teen starts sharing their location. "If you're a parent with supervision set up for your teen, you have control over their location sharing experience on the map," the company wrote.
